Increase Image Quality

Upscale a photo and sharpen the details. A fast, browser-based enhancer for small or soft images.

Select Or Drag & Drop An Image Here

This is a classic sharpening upscaler, not a generative AI model. It works best on photos that are slightly soft or small.

Upscale and sharpen a small or soft image

Sometimes a photo is slightly too small or lacks crisp detail after being resized. This browser-based upscaler enlarges an image by 1.5×, 2×, 3× or 4×, or to a custom width, and then applies sharpening and colour adjustments. It is a classic image-processing upscaler rather than a generative AI model, so it can make edges and texture look clearer but cannot invent detail that was never in the original. It works best on photos that are only mildly soft, small web images and screenshots that need a larger version.

How to upscale an image

  1. Select an image or drag it into the drop zone.
  2. Choose a scale factor or enter a custom width in pixels.
  3. Adjust the sharpen slider. Start around 50–60% and increase only if the result still looks natural.
  4. Fine-tune brightness, contrast and saturation if needed.
  5. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP and click Download Enhanced.

Where upscaling helps

  • Old web images: prepare a small photo for a larger screen or a simple print.
  • Product pictures: make a marketplace image easier to inspect.
  • Screenshots and graphics: enlarge a diagram or interface capture for a document.
  • Soft phone photos: add modest sharpening before sharing.

Realistic expectations and tips

Enlarging an image always adds pixels, but it cannot recover fine detail that the camera or original file never captured. Too much sharpening creates bright halos around edges and makes noise more visible. Compare the result at 100% zoom and reduce the sharpen amount if it looks artificial. For text or logos, PNG is usually better than JPG because it avoids new compression artefacts. For a photo, JPG or WebP keeps the file smaller. If you need exact file size rather than larger dimensions, use Increase Image Size; if you need smaller dimensions, use Resize Image.

Privacy and browser processing

The enlargement and filters run locally on a canvas. Your image is not uploaded to ImageTool24, and no account is needed. The enhanced file is downloaded directly to your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an AI upscaler?

No. It uses classic scaling and sharpening. It can improve apparent clarity but will not reconstruct faces, text or textures like a generative AI model.

How large can I make an image?

You can choose up to 4× or a custom width. Very large results depend on your browser memory and the original image size.

Why does my image look blurry after upscaling?

Enlarging cannot create missing detail. A low-resolution source will still look soft; moderate sharpening can help, but over-sharpening creates halos.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The processing is local, and the image stays on your device.
